Maison Demar: An Identity Shaped by Cities

Maison Demar: An Identity Shaped by Cities

Maison Demar is a reflection of city life—formed through movement, contrast, and culture.

The brand is rooted in the experience of a young Haitian kid raised in Florida, who later moved to New York City at an early age to study fashion design. That transition played a defining role in shaping Maison Demar’s philosophy. New York didn’t just teach discipline and ambition—it taught vision.

When I arrived in New York, I was instantly drawn to the Lower East Side. At the time, the LES was the center of everything fly and artistic in the city. It was where creatives laid the groundwork—where fashion, music, art, and rebellion collided. The energy was raw, expressive, and unapologetic. That environment shaped how I understood style—not just as clothing, but as language and resistance.

Two years after college, life took another turn. I moved to Haiti, settling in the city of Saint-Marc, where I stayed for five years and helped my father with different business ventures. Saint-Marc was the opposite of New York City. It was calm, slow, and grounding. A city close to the beach, where after long workdays I would often find myself by the water. The beach became my place of peace—a space where my mind could rest and my creativity could flow freely.Inspired by the timeless simplicity of the fisherman's uniform, I created the MD Black Long Sleeve Uniform Tee and MD White Long Sleeve Uniform Tee—pieces that embody that same sense of ease and authenticity.

Saint-Marc became home. It was where I felt rooted.

But Port-au-Prince—especially Pétion-Ville—is where my city identity in Haiti fully came alive. Pétion-Ville is the cultural and economic heartbeat of the country. It’s where the Haitian bourgeoisie lives, where on any given day you might see six brand-new Mercedes-Benz G-Wagons parked along the street. More importantly, it was where I could fully express myself—through language, fashion, and creativity. It felt familiar. Like everyone spoke my language, listened to the same music, and shared the same experiences of city life abroad.Inspired by the bourgeoisie of PV, the MD Black Uniform Button Down and MD White Uniform Button Down are the perfect chemiz / button down to roll around PV on a late night quest.

That duality—calm and chaos, reflection and movement, home and ambition—is the foundation of Maison Demar.

Maison Demar is raised by New York City and matured by Haitian culture and politics.

It is a brand born from cities, shaped by migration, and driven by identity.

This is Maison Demar.
